NAFA Handling Full Day of Fleet Professional Sessions on Friday

The New Jersey-based NAFA Fleet Management Association will anchor a full day of sessions at the 2014 AltCar Expo and Conference in Santa Monica, Calif. later this week. NAFA is promising “instruction and case studies in fuel management, a CAFM Boot Camp session devoted to the fuel management fleet discipline, and an in-depth look at NAFA’s Sustainable Fleet Standard Program which is set to launch in 2015.” updated September 16

The 9th Annual AltCar Expo & Conference takes place at the Santa Monica Civic Center September 19-20. The no-charge day for fleet professionals is Friday, September 19.

altcarexpo+NAFAThe sessions led by NAFA professional development strategist Katherine Vigneau and VP Bryan Flansburg will “offer fresh perspectives on all of fleet’s eight disciplines and provide attendees with true, actionable information that they can use to improve their fleets.”

‘Share Best Practices with Peers’

“The pairing of NAFA with the AltCar Expo and Conference makes perfect sense and offers a tremendous two-day base-jump into this new dynamic for the industry,” NAFA CEO Phillip Russo said in a release today.


“The AltCar Expo and Conference is designed specifically to address the issues on the minds of alternative fuel vehicle industry professionals, government agencies, and fleet managers,” Santa Monica fleet superintendent Rick Sikes says in the NAFA release.

“It’s an opportunity to share best practices with peers and get an understanding of what’s coming next in terms of policy, innovation, and products,” Sikes said.

NAFA Gets Ready for Minneapolis

Alt Fuels and Overall Sustainability at April I&E

The NAFA Fleet Management Association plans half a dozen sessions on alternative fuels and sustainability practices at its annual Institute & Expo April 8-11 in Minneapolis.

nafa2014Biofuel, compressed natural gas, hybrid vehicles and several clean transportation organizations, including the local Twin Cities Clean Cities coalition, will exhibit.

Organizers have set the following sessions:

  • State of the Industry: Status Report on Alternative Fuels and High-Efficiency Vehicles for Fleet;
  • CNG: The Latest on Public Infrastructure;
  • Using it Right: Fleet Deployment Best Practices for Alternative Fuels and Technology;
  • U.S. Legislative and Regulatory Update;
  • Technology Meets Application: Getting the Best “Green” Fit; and
  • Building a Sustainable Fleet: a New NAFA Program.

In addition, NAFA will bestow its Fleet Excellence Awards in the categories of sustainability, safety, and overall fleet management performance.

The NAFA I&E trade show dates are April 9-10.

Vehicle Fuel Management Among Eight FMS Disciplines

The NAFA Fleet Management Association will hold FMS 2013 June 4-6 at the Atlanta Airport Marriott Gateway in Atlanta, Ga. “NAFA’s Fleet Management Seminars are regarded as the best source of fleet education in the business,” the association says, “taught by some of the brightest minds in the industry.”

The NAFA Fleet Management Association will hold its Fleet Management Seminar June 4-6 at the Atlanta Airport Marriott Gateway in Atlanta, Ga.

The NAFA Fleet Management Association will hold its Fleet Management Seminar June 4-6 at the Atlanta Airport Marriott Gateway in Atlanta, Ga.

The seminar, also described as “a great stepping stone,” is designed for new fleet professionals with less than five years of experience. Topics include

  • a look at NAFA’s Competency Model – eight disciplines (Asset Management, Business Management, Financial Management, Fleet Information Management, Maintenance Management, Risk Management, Vehicle Fuel Management, and Professional Development) that comprise successful fleet management;
  • Professional Development – Motivating Individuals and Groups, Communicating Effectively and Making Ethical Decisions;
  • Asset Management – Understanding How Fleet Vehicles are Priced, Selected, Utilized and Remarketed;
  • Maintenance Management – Determining Maintenance Programs and Staffing Levels and Understanding Basic Vehicle Components;
  • Vehicle Fuel Management – Understanding Fuel Options and the Systems to Deliver Them;
  • Fleet Information Management – Understanding IT Terminology, System Implementation, Data Analysis and New Technologies for Fleets;
  • Financial Management – Making the Lease-Purchase-Reimburse Decision, Understanding LCA and Budgeting for Fleet Replacement (Part I);
  • Business Management – Writing Fleet Policies, Evaluating RFPs and Understanding Business Law; and
  • Risk Management – Using Insurance, Driver Training and Crash Analysis to Manage Fleet Risks.

Seminar registration is $770 for NAFA members or $870 for non-members. The fee includes a networking reception.

On-line registration closes Wednesday, June 29.

The New Jersey-based NAFA Fleet Management Association is gearing up to hold its annual Institute and Expo in its home state. NAFA I&E is being held April 23-26 at the Atlantic City Convention Center and Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort. The trade show takes place April 24-25.
