Company Veteran Takes the Helm of Post-Merger Company
Westport Fuel Systems said today that its board has chosen Nancy Gougarty as chief executive officer. She has served as president and COO of Westport since July 2013.
Westport recently closed on the merger with Impco parent Fuel Systems Solutions, Inc. that was announced this past autumn (F&F, June 2).
David Demers, Westport’s current CEO, “is retiring from the company but will be available to the leadership team in an advisory role through a transition period,” states today’s announcement.
“Nancy has proven her ability to work through complex development projects with major global original equipment manufacturers,” said Westport board chair Warren Baker – “with a clear sense of what drives profits.”
‘Clearly the Right Person’
“Her most recent collaborative efforts leading the integration teams following the merger with Fuel Systems Solutions, Inc. highlighted her skill in managing diverse groups across Europe, Asia & North America while stewarding key relationships with suppliers and joint venture partners.
“She is clearly the right person to lead our newly combined global company going forward,” Baker said.
Earnings to Be Released August 9
Prior to joining Westport, Gougarty served as TRW Automotive Corp Asia-Pacific operations VP, overseeing the operations of more than 30 plants in the region from a base in Shanghai. She was previously managing director of GM’s joint venture in Shanghai.
Westport also said today that it expects to report on its second-quarter financial results on Tuesday, August 9.
