CE Series School Bus to Have 8.8-Liter PSI Engine,
Oklahoma-Built Buses for the 2015-2016 School Year

Navistar International’s IC Bus unit is promoting its CE Series school buses, which can handle up to 78 passengers, with the 8.8-liter dedicated propane autogas engine from Power Solutions International for the 2015 model year.

CNG Trucks for California Lease & Rent: 20 Greenkraft, 19 Navistar

Ryder System has branched into light and medium duty compressed natural gas vehicles in California, taking delivery of 39 CNG trucks said to be “the first of their kind available for lease or rent in North America.”

EVs ‘At Least $100,000 Cheaper than Climate-Changing Diesels’

Citing the low daily mileage tallies yet high lifetime fuel costs of fleets, Ohio’s Amp Electric Vehicles is dropping its consumer conversions to focus 100% on medium duty trucks. Amp says too that it has found truck fleet operators to be more willing to partner with small firms like itself than are the passenger car OEMs.

FedEx Express Commits to More EVs

FedEx Express is boosting its all-electric fleet from 43 units to 130, evaluating vehicles from large companies and small. The goal is for the new battery trucks to be “delivering packages this summer.”

The San Francisco Bay Area is getting the most, with 34 trucks: 21 Smith Newtons and nine new Navistar International eStars (plus four reconditioned ones). All of the eStars have drivelines from the UK’s Zytek.

Navistar International is cagey about its suppliers, but it’s clear that Agility Fuel Systems, which also supplies Freightliner and Paccar’s Kenworth and Peterbilt with natural gas fuel tank assemblies, is helping out with compressed natural gas tanks on International trucks too.
