New Jersey Natural Gas has opened a compressed natural gas fueling facility with Waste Management in Toms River, N.J. It’s the first public access CNG outlet in Ocean County, and the ninth in the state.

North Carolina-based DesignLine is supplying 76 of its CNG-fueled “EcoCoach” vehicles to New Jersey Transit, and may well sell more as the agency prepares a solicitation for an expected 84 additional vehicles.

Will Spend Up to $10 Million for Five to Seven Fueling Stations

New Jersey Natural Gas received approval from the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities on June 18 to implement a pilot program to help stimulate the market for natural gas vehicles in the state. NJNG says it will invest up to $10 million, over the next 12 months, to build between five and seven compressed natural gas fueling stations at host facilities throughout its service territory.
