US Hybrid Drive in Global Environmental Sweepers for New York,
The Customer Says that a CNG-Fueled Hybrid Is in Development Too

US Hybrid is talking up a follow-on order of seven hybrid electric street sweepers for DSNY, the New York City Department of Sanitation, stating that there are “twenty in the pipeline and additional option for eighty.” The hybrid electric sweepers are manufactured by Global Environmental Products.

Sanitation, Parks and DoT Are Saving on Fuel, Cutting CO2

Kenworth has released an informative summary of New York City’s use of hybrid electric trucks with parallel drives from Eaton, reporting that the New York City Department of Sanitation, the Parks Department, and the Department of Transportation all have Kenworth hybrids. “It’s the city that never sleeps,” states a release, and “turns others green with envy.”

Both Parallel Electric and Bosch Rexroth Hydraulic Hybrids

Following a trial of a single hybrid electric Mack refuse truck, the New York City Department of Sanitation has taken delivery of five more leased vehicles. They are TerraPro low-entry trucks with parallel hybrid electric drivetrains developed in league with parent Volvo but “optimized,” according to Mack Trucks marketing VP John Walsh, “for the specific requirements of Mack customers.”
