Baltimore-based H&S Bakery has unveiled Ford F-59 chassis delivery trucks with dedicated-propane autogas fuel systems by Roush CleanTech. CNG Trucks for ‘Operations that Exclusively Service McDonald’s’

Ryder System is publicizing its first natural gas lease deal in Maryland, disclosing a full-service lease agreement for 25 compressed natural gas tractors for Baltimore-based Northeast Foods. The baker and food distributor “will use the trucks to support its distribution and delivery operations that exclusively service McDonald’s,” Ryder reports.

Ryder will provide maintenance for the 25 CNG vehicles from its Baltimore service facility, which is being upgraded for compliance with natural gas standards.

Northeast Foods has 200 tractor trailers and more than 400 delivery trucks serving 15,000 direct delivery customers daily.

“In the fresh food business, our top priority is to have a reliable fleet of well-maintained vehicles to ensure our customers get their deliveries when and where they need them,” Northeast transportation and logistics VP Chuck Paterakis says in the Ryder release.

Freightliners, and U.S. Oil Gain for Fuel

“With Ryder’s natural gas vehicles, we have the confidence that we can get the service and performance we need from our fleet today,” Paterakis said, “while operating more cost-efficiently and environmentally-friendly.”

Ryder is supplying Freightliner Cascadia tractors, Northeast fleet manager John Sfakianos told F&F last month (F&F, September 9). They will have ISX12 G engines from Cummins Westport and CNG fuel systems by Quantum.

U.S. Oil Gain has publicized a contract to provide a Gain Clean Fuel CNG station to support the Northeast trucks in Baltimore.

Nine States Now, and Quebec

Ryder says it now has more than 27 million miles of experience with natural gas trucks, and boasts 14 natural gas vehicle maintenance facilities, and 260 natural gas vehicle trained technicians. Ryder has provided CNG and LNG/liquefied natural gas vehicles to fleet customers in California, New York, Michigan, Texas, Arizona, Utah, Georgia and Louisiana, and recently publicized its largest NGV deal to date, for C.A.T. in Quebec (F&F, October 24).

Ryder operates LCNG fueling stations in Fontana and Orange, Calif., and an LNG station at its Fulton, Ga. maintenance facility.
