Omnitek: 2013 Gains, 2014 Traction

‘We Expect 2014 to Be a Pivotal Year for the Company’

Southern California’s Omnitek Engineering is talking up strong prospects for the new year, citing a preliminary order late in December to one of its domestic conversion center partners, the commencement of initial kit sales to a European country committed to a ten-year target of 2 million conversions, and receipt by a Latin America customer of a preliminary order of U.S.-manufactured natural gas engines for an initial 50-bus conversion project.

“The opportunities for heavy-duty diesel engine truck engine conversions are significant and we expect 2014 to be a pivotal year for the company, based on the expressed interest of large fleet customers during the past several months and year-end quote activity and kit shipments,” Omnitek president and CEO Werner Funk said in a release.

Funk also mentioned highlighted the company’s recent strategic alliance with Minneapolis-based diesel engine remanufacturer Reviva to produce “drop-in” natural gas engines that utilize Omnitek’s diesel-to-natural gas engine conversion kits for Navistar DT466E and DT530E heavy-duty truck engines as a convenient option for large fleets.

Omnitek (OTCQB:OMTK) promoted conversions of the 12-liter Mack E7 engine at the recent North American NGV Conference & Expo in Atlanta (F&F, December 3).

Funk said that Omnitek conversions offer a projected payback of less than two years – “a significant advantage compared with a projected payback of five-to-seven years for a new natural gas truck purchase.”

Omnitek Spark for Mack E7 Engine

Spark-Ignition Natural Gas Variant Added to Growing Line-Up

Omnitek Engineering spread the word at the North American NGV Conference & Expo in Atlanta that it has completed a pilot project involving 21 refuse collection trucks with the Mack E7 engine, which it plans to add, when approved, to its growing line-up of spark-ignition dedicated-natural gas engines. The 12-liter engine is up for U.S. EPA approval of 1998 through 2006 variants, expected in the first quarter of 2014. The trials in California were conducted under a California Air Resources Board waiver.
