How and Why of Renewable Natural Gas with RINS Incentives

The Energy Department’s Clean Cities organization is hosting a webinar on biogas and renewable natural gas to outline why the fuels are of interest and how the U.S. EPA’s system of RINS – Renewable Identification Numbers – provides an important incentive to production.

CleanCities_logoThe one-hour webinar takes place June 29 at 9:30am Pacific time / 12:30 Eastern.

The presenters are Shashi Menon, managing partner at Des Moines-based Ecoengineers, and Marianne Mintz, energy systems analysis team leader at the Argonne National Laboratory in Illinois.

Oberon Biogas DME Gets RFS Approval

Firm’s Dimethyl Ether to be Eligible for Cellulosic-Equivalent RINs

Southern California’s Oberon Fuels has received U.S. EPA approval of its biogas-based dimethyl ether as a RIN-eligible product under RFS-2, the federal Renewable Fuel Standard.

All of Washington State Agency’s CNG Buses Run on Landfill Gas
From Pipeline Via ‘Wheel’ Deal Approved in June by the U.S. EPA

The Seattle area’s Pierce Transit is now fueling all of its CNG buses – approximately 143 of them – with renewable natural gas based on production at King County’s Cedar Hills Landfill. U.S. EPA approval allowing for RIN credits was received on June 5, says the Western Washington Clean Cities Coalition. updated August 16
