CPUC Approves $22 Million EVSE Installation Drive,
The Customers Will Own and Operate the Equipment

Southern California Edison has secured California Public Utility Commission approval of its $22 million “Charge Ready” initiative, which SCE describes as a pilot project to support installation of as many as 1,500 electric vehicle charging stations within its service territory.

California Grants a Three-Year Break on Daytime Electricity
As Battery Busmaker Trumpets $23 Million Investment Round

The California Public Utilities Commission has granted a three-year reprieve on the daytime electricity rates paid by transit agencies with battery electric vehicles, following petitions by Proterra and Southern California Edison. The ruling means that Southern California’s Foothill Transit will pay about 15¢ per kilowatt-hour instead of 40¢ to charge its Proterra buses, and an onerous monthly demand charge will be eliminated.

Altec Industries Opens Its New Green Fleet Facility in Dixon, Calif.

Altec Industries opened its new “Green Fleet” facility east of San Francisco yesterday, attracting Dixon, Calif. Mayor Jack Batchelor, U.S. Congressman John Garamendi, and executives of Pacific Gas & Electric and Southern California Edison — two key utility customers.

A PG&E purchase commitment prompted Alabama-based Altec’s decision to expand in California.
