Propane autogas advocates celebrated a decade of success earlier this month, noting at an event in Austin that more than American school districts now operate more than 7,000 propane autogas school buses on a daily basis.

Acquiring 41 Thomas Built Saf-T-Liner C2s

Thomas Built Buses’ Saf-T-Liner C2 propane-powered school buses have impressed a Minnesota school district enough to order 38 more for its fleet. Independent School District 15 (ISD 15), located in St. Francis, Minn., tested three propane-powered buses and placed an order for 41 of the district’s 51 buses to be propane autogas-powered during the 2015-16 school year.

Agency Nods Pave the Way for Bobtail Trucks and Type C School Buses

CleanFuel USA reports U.S. EPA and California Air Resources Board certification for the S2G chassis from Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp. The chassis features an 8.0-liter GM block engine, up to 350 horsepower, modified for dedicated liquid propane operation by Powertrain Integration with CleanFuel USA fuel system.

Daimler’s Thomas Built Buses is affirming its commitment to alternative fuels, pledging to use the just-announced ISB6.7 G mid-range engine from Cummins Westport in a new Type C school bus, and noting that its smaller, propane-fueled Minotour is in production.
