Toyota has been quiet lately concerning its hydrogen fuel cell-powered Mirai sedan, but has quietly placed approximately 150 of the zero-emission vehicles with customers in California, and will bring the car to the U.S. Northeast either late this year or early in 2017.

Toyota is talking up a U.S. EPA-estimated single-fill range of 312 miles for its hydrogen fuel cell-powered Mirai, with combined fuel efficiency of 67 miles per gallon equivalent. The car, already available in Japan, is to hit California dealerships later this year.

Linde has opened the first retail hydrogen fueling station in the Sacramento area. The Ramos Oil-hosted, California Energy Commission-backed facility has Quantum dispensers and can handle an initial 100 passenger car fills per day. It “moves California closer to its goal of having 1.5 million zero-emission vehicles on the road by 2025,” CEC said.

Toyota has announced Mirai – which means “future” in Japanese – as the name of its new fuel cell vehicle. To support Mirai’s launch in the U.S. Northeast in 2016, the automaker has disclosed a collaboration with Air Liquide for “a phased network of 12 state-of-the-art hydrogen stations targeted for New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island.” updated November 18
