New $4.5 Million for Alt Fuels from DoE

Late-Breaking! New Solicitation via Clean Cities

Just out Wednesday morning: “In support of President Obama’s all-of-the-above energy strategy, the Energy Department today announced up to $4.5 million in funding to expand the use of alternative fuels through the Clean Cities program, which works with nearly 100 local coalitions and thousands of stakeholders across the country to decrease the use of petroleum in transportation.”

Plug-in electric, natural gas, propane, and flex-fuel vehicles are eligible for funding of on-road demonstrations, safety-related training, and emergency preparedness.

Concept papers submissions are due August 1 and full proposals are due October 1.

FedEx Express to Test Smith Trucks with Plug Power Fuel Cells

FedEx Express has been awarded $3 million by the U.S. Department of Energy to develop a hydrogen fuel cell delivery truck with a single-fill range of up to 150 miles. Twenty vehicles are to be tested at FedEx facilities in Tennessee and California, DoE said Tuesday.
