Gets Wide Attention as the ‘Poo’ Bus, aka a Scania Enviro 300

The UK’s Bath Bus Company, a subsidiary of France’s RATP, is operating a 41-passenger biomethane-fueled Scania Enviro 300 bus for service to the Bristol Airport. The fuel is derived from sewage via anaerobic digestion at a Wessex Water-Geneco wastewater treatment plant. The vehicle has garnered wide attention as the “poo bus.”

World domination may be going it a bit strong, but Scotland’s Alexander Dennis Limited is stepping up the pace in advanced buses – talking up many hundreds of buses for China, a joint venture with North America’s New Flyer Industries to serve a market that’s “ready for change,” a renewed emphasis on fuel-saving technologies including hybrid drive – and compressed natural gas to boot.

Scania and ADL for UK CNG

Alexander Dennis Limited and the UK arm of Sweden’s Scania are teaming to bring a new CNG-fueled transit bus to the British market.

The collaborative venture, says a Scania GB release, “will see Scania supply its KUB chassis and high pressure lightweight composite tanks to Alexander Dennis Limited for fitment of an adapted Enviro300 43-seat, 12.2-meter [40-foot] overall length body.”
