Viking Line to Order a Second LNG Ferry

Deltamarin, Wärtsilä and ABB Marine Are Partners

Sweden’s Viking Line reported a letter of intent with China’s Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Company for a ferry that will join its pioneering LNG-fueled Viking Grace connecting Turku, Finland and Stockholm. The new 715-foot ship is expected to cost about 190 million euros (approximately $201 million U.S. at current rates).

Linde Units Will Support Viking Line Operations in Stockholm

Two Swedish units of Linde are collaborating on LNG fueling in Stockholm harbor – Linde’s AGA has contracted with Linde’s Gas Cryo AB (and Norway’s Fiskestrand Verft) for a bunkering vessel to deliver liquefied natural gas to Viking Line cruise ferries.

Joint Venture for Marine Market to be Based in Hamburg

Echoing Shell’s recent deal to buy Gasnor (F&F, July 11), Linde and Hamburg-based Bomin, a marine fuels specialist, are forming a 50-50 joint venture company “to build an infrastructure for liquefied natural gas in the maritime sector in Europe.”
