The California Energy Commission has approved some $22 million to support the purchase of natural gas vehicles in the state and to install electric vehicle charging equipment along major routes.

CEC Has $10 Million for North-South Corridors

The California Energy Commission is looking for suppliers of DC fast-charger for electric vehicles to help the state complete it portion of a north-south portion of an electric charging highway corridor, allowing EVs to charge between the Oregon border and south to Baja California.

WCEHThe agency has $10 million to spend under solicitation GFO-15-601. Chargers are to be installed along Interstate-5, U.S. Highway 101 and State Route 99.

The solicitation identifies seven primary and two secondary corridors. CEC anticipates that the largest investment will be between the Oregon border and Red Bluff, South of Redding, Calif. – connecting the California network to the West Coast Electric Highway in Oregon and Washington.

Sacramento Workshop on August 7

The agency will accept written questions on the GFO-15-601 DC fast-charge solicitation until August 7, on the morning of which it will host a pre-application workshop, in Sacramento.

The deadline to submit application is November 19. CEC anticipates posted the winners in January to be confirmed at the Commission board meeting in March.
