BARTA to Test Two Battery Vehicles with Inductive Charging

Ohio’s Amp Electric Vehicles and Pennsylvania’s Momentum Dynamics will test wireless EV charging on paratransit vehicles with the Reading, Pa.-based Berks Area Regional Transportation Authority, beginning in the first quarter of 2013. A new Amp-Momentum joint venture will convert two Ford E-450 chassis to electric operation.

OLEV Wireless for Texas Buses

An on-the-go wireless charging system from Boston’s OLEV Technologies will be tested on three Metro McAllen buses in McAllen, Texas.

Three existing Blue Bird diesel buses will be converted to battery electric operation for the trial, which has funding from the Federal Transportation Administration’s TIGGER (Transit Investment in Greenhouse Gas and Energy Reduction) program.
