“As other major fleets begin to see the merits of electric vehicles and the efficiency and reliability of the UQM drive solutions, we anticipate seeing more good news like this,” Mitchell said.

“Zenith has been greatly anticipating this order with DHL and is excited to have the opportunity to showcase the UQM powered full electric delivery vehicles,” Zenith Motors William Yung says in the DHL announcement.

San Diego Airport Parking Company Plans to Deploy Three

The San Diego Airport Parking Company has deployed two 100% battery electric shuttle vans from Zenith Motors and plans to have three on the job by year-end, Zenith said Tuesday.

Zenith Motors is based in Wilder, Kentucky.

“After seeing the Zenith vehicle at a conference and I liked what I saw, I started my research to see how it would meet our requirements,” SDAP operations manager Lisa McGhee says in Zenith’s announcement.

“A very thorough due diligence analysis was conducted taking into account the purchase price and ROI including all of the operational cost. I evaluated the maintenance cost benefits, range per fill, energy consumed at our average speed, technology uniqueness and behavior of driving an EV vehicle, environmental benefits, the salvage value and any grant or rebates currently available,” McGhee says.

‘A Perfect Fit’

“All of this was compared to other alternative fuel vehicles and this analysis concluded that the Zenith Shuttle would be a perfect fit for SDAP to reduce our overall fleet costs and meet our emission goals.”

The vans are equipped with rear air conditioners and back-up cameras, Zenith says, and average between 90 and 110 miles on a charge.

SDAP received its first Zenith Shuttle on May 2 and the second on July 2.

“So far, we love the Shuttle and so do our customers,” McGhee says. “The goal now is for SDAP to have three operating by the end of this year.”
