Maintenance and Diagnostics for Heavy Duty Commences in Dallas
The Las Vegas-based Natural Gas Vehicle Institute is introducing two new training courses, which it says are industry firsts: NGV Maintenance and Diagnostics Training: Heavy-Duty Vehicles and NGV Maintenance and Diagnostics Training: Light-Duty Vehicles.
Both, NGVi says, include operational theory with hands-on exercises, use of Digital Multimeters (DMMs), scan tools and other diagnostic equipment. They prepare technicians for the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) H1 and F1 exams.
Each, she said, “went through a rigorous beta test with technicians representing companies the caliber of Agility Fuel Systems, Encana, FedEx Freight, Frito-Lay/Pepsico, Landi-Renzo and Waste Management.”
‘Backlog of Major Customers’
“Fleets are starved for comprehensive NGV technician training evidenced by our backlog of major customers waiting for the launch,” Thomason said.
The courses were developed by NGVi training manager Paul Pate.
NGVi says it plans for at least twelve of the new courses to be offered publicly in 2014.
The kick-off for the heavy duty NGV maintenance and diagnostics course is October 29-31 in Dallas. The light duty maintenance and diagnostics course will be offered for the first time in Las Vegas February 25-27.
Other upcoming NGVi courses include
- NGV Technician and Fleet Operations Safety Training: October 1 in Little Rock, Ark. and October 23 in Atlanta;
